I hold a Level 5 TEFL certificate to teach English to non-native English speakers and have more than 5 years working with students of various grade levels and abilities in the classroom, online, at public libraries, and private residences to help non-native and native English speakers, with writing and reading assignments. I also have some experience working with non-native English speaking adult students from beginner to more advanced levels with speaking, listening, and grammar lessons. As a patient tutor with a calm demeanor, I plan to do my best to ensure that learning is less stressful and pleasant. Professional experience
Hillcrest Elementary School
Provided support to an autistic first grader. Assisted the student with classroom assignments and extracurricular activities as needed. Provided behavioral support such as prompting the student to stay on task, and to stay at workstation. Took breaks with the student when necessary. Also monitored and assisted the student during lunch and recess.
Impact Charter School
Provided general classroom and student support. Assisted Kindergarten students. Also provided one-to-one support to a kindergartener, third graders and a fourth grader as needed.
Discovery Charter School
Provided assistance to 3 students from grades 4 to 5 during the absence of their ESL teacher. Assisted the students with reading material from multiple subjects, and writing assignments as needed. Documented the students’ progress and met with their ESL instructor weekly. .
Overbrook School for the Blind
Filled in for teacher and teacher-aid positions of various grade levels and classroom environments. Followed daily classroom schedules and lesson plans. Assisted students with classroom and homework assignments. Assisted students with non-academic activities. Monitored student’s behaviors and took notes of students’ academic progress or nonacademic tasks progress to report to the teacher.
